Traction Levage pays tribute to an iconic figure in its history
Marcel Causan has left us.
With his passing, Traction Levage loses a part of its history and success.
Trained as an accountant, Marcel Causan quickly turned to commerce and experienced his first successes in printing machinery.
He joined Traction Levage as a technical sales representative in September 1974. Due to his results, he became the sales director at the beginning of 1979 and general manager a few months later.
In 1985, he bought the majority of shares from the founder André Medawar and became Chairman and CEO of Traction Levage SA.
Thanks to his initial training and commercial talents, Traction Levage became the leading European manufacturer of wire rope slings in 1988. The turnover increased from 300,000 euros in 1974 to over 10 million euros in 1988.
A relentless negotiator but also a visionary, Marcel Causan equipped himself with efficient production tools and focused on the quality of delivered products and service.
The company continued its progress, and in 1990, he sold the company to TREFILUNION, which has since become ARCELORMITTAL Bourg en Bresse.
He remained President of SA TRACTION LEVAGE until the end of 2004 when, following a surgical operation, he became paraplegic.
A tireless worker, charismatic, Marcel CAUSAN commanded respect and left no one indifferent.
The employees of Traction Levage, as well as a large number of former colleagues who worked with him, paid their last respects to him on Wednesday, April 23.
Marcel will forever be in our memory and in the history of our company.
